Disrespect is disrespect...Just saying **Warning! Do not Google**

>> Wednesday, March 3, 2010

If someone criticizes you or makes major judgments against you, then follows it with “I’m just saying.” Is that suppose to make you feel better, are you then not to take it personally? What’s “I’m just saying” really mean anyway? Does it lessen the blow? Make them not responsible if your feelings are hurt, or is it just a jerky thing to say?

“Hey your kids a real brat and he smells funny too, just saying.”
Well how about not saying, how about saying something nice, or keeping your snark to yourself? I’m just saying.

The term “I know, Right!” is soooooo over, and over used, I know, right! Let’s just get over ourselves already. Nothing is worse then paying someone a complement only to get back, “I know, Right!” What happened to good old fashion manners?

“Wow, your hair is so cute like that!”

“I know, RIGHT!”

Wrong, your hair was cute until you opened your mouth and snot flew out of it! I’m just saying.

I didn’t know what MILF meant for a long time. I knew that it had something to do with being a mom. How bad could that be, from what I’d seen and read seems like Mom’s want to be MILF's. Must be something great, right? I wanted to be a cool MILF too! So feeling a bit out of the loop I text the question to a younger friend of mine, knowing she would know.

HOLY COW! How socked was I? WTF how vile! I’ll slap the holy bloody hell out of any boy I hear use that term about me, right after I reply with, “I know, RIGHT!” If you don’t know what it means, I'm not telling you. And if your one of them moms that wants to be a MILF, you should be ashamed…I’m just saying.
{warning...do not google MILF, Nasty Vile search results, with a capital D-G-T... DIS-GUS-TING!}  BTW how much more D-G-T is GILFI know, Right!  DGTG  *i so just coined DGT its mine, don't go there.*

Speaking of WTF, we all know what that means, right? Is its really ok for kids to say W-T-F, L-M-F-A-O, S-T-F-U,  B-F-D or any other such garbage? But if they drop the F bomb we go all ape sh*t crazy on their butt? That so lame, I know-Right? Its ridiculous, why not just let them have the full on potty, trash talking mouth?  Come on just let them say whatever they want, what’s the harm in it?
Is it because taking my little kiddos to McDonalds’ and hearing a teen go off on his mom with…
“W-T-F mom, I said a chocolate shake, O-M-G this is not chocolate!” Is so much better then the alternative…really?

Disrespect is disrespect no matter the texts it comes in… I’m just saying.

I so know what your thinking right now!  IWBAPTAKYAIYSTA

Missy March 3, 2010 at 5:36 PM

Well, I am currently LMAO about this stuff - but I don't know what GILF is - do I even want to? :)

First, I wish I could remember which comedian did the bit about "just sayin". I loved it when I heard it...from that comedian.

Secondly, are you aware of how you negate your own argument in this post? Or was that your entire point? I haven't read any of your blog except this entry, but I'll assume this was meant in all seriousness. If I'm wrong, perhaps I'll regret this comment later. But erring on the side of caution has never been my deal.

Anyway, you seem incredibly quick to judge and toss out what people should actually say and how women should be ashamed of themselves for desiring to be desired in a sexual manner. Yet you're also quick to demand people keep their snark to themselves. Hm. Funny how that works when this is so rife with snide undertones.

I agree that disrespect is something that is almost always blatant, no matter the context you try to hide it in. I just hope you realize that not everyone agrees with your views on what qualifies as disrespectful, so your holier than thou moral lessons are falling on my deaf ears. Mostly because I find your post offensive.

I'm not trying to be hateful, I am guessing we are two completely different people. I am just making the recommendation that you make sure your glass house is stone proof.

PS - This girl is completely and utterly unashamed to have been referred to several times as a MILF. I don't gather my self worth from it, but it's nice to know that having two children hasn't mattered when it comes to how physically attractive I am.

Abigail March 4, 2010 at 6:51 AM

THANKYOU! For saying that so well (and entertainingly)
I have a friend who types in chatspeak constantly, and once went 97 words without a single punctuation mark. 25 and he has no idea that most people who read his messages want to kill him.

And I'm not even that old... well kind of ;)

Lee the Hot Flash Queen March 4, 2010 at 7:15 AM

Love this post! Following you back, and my pet peeve is Whatever. I think it is so dang rude...you know, right??

And, I am a potty mouth and encourage my kids to drop F bombs..I'm just saying.

Danielle March 4, 2010 at 8:46 AM

My mother just asked me what BFF was today. Somehow I knew!

Elle March 4, 2010 at 10:55 AM

This is a fantastic post. I totally agree with you on the MILF and GILF thing, and, well, all of the rest of it too!

sweetjeanette March 4, 2010 at 11:41 AM

Ok I don't know what half of the stuff you've talked about is...I'm just sayin'.
Thanks for your sweet visit and coment on my SITS day yesterday! Loved having you over and come back often because I love your company! I know, right?

Michelle Faith March 4, 2010 at 12:20 PM

HA! a comedian did a bit about "just saying?" How cool is that I'm so slick. Wish I knew who it was too, bet it is funnier them moi. I wonder if that is were the gal on FB got it, cause she uses it all the time and really torks me.

Christine aka Mistress of Cakes March 4, 2010 at 5:48 PM

lol..found you through SITS. I was reading the comments and saw one person go off on you. geepers. she needs to surgically remove the stick from her rear.

Hiya from Friday Follow! Loved your post... Down here in the South, you can say any horrible thing about anybody, as long as you follow it up with, "Bless her heart."

Example: "Janie has gained so much weight- she looks awful...bless her heart!" Or how about "He is dumber than a box of rocks...bless his heart!"

It's like a get of jail free card- just saying...

This is all so true. Its very rude and very bad for a child to say wtf and all the other phrases we have incorporated into letters to shorten the words. But some parent sfeel better that there child is not saying the full on word. But to me its the same thing. By the way following for Friday follow.

Wendy March 5, 2010 at 6:16 PM

Hi Michelle,
I'm following back from Follow Friday. First post I've read. I think it's amazing that people think they can speak obscenely in "letters" and it's ok, when perhaps they would find it offensive to actually speak the words in their entirety. I believe we've lost our self-respect and have dumbed-down a whole generation, or two, in encouraging illiteracy and the inability to write in complete sentences, or to use the English language properly. Not that I'm an expert, but I appreciate an articulate person, and their writing.
I am personally happy that I don't know what most of the abbreviations in your post mean, as I now don't have to try to get them out of my mind.
Wendy @ Faith's Firm Foundation

jackie March 5, 2010 at 6:31 PM

LOL! I didn't know what GILF meant, and I'm sorry I looked it up now.

Hi! I'm so glad I found your blog thru the Friday Follow!
This post made me ROFL - Thank you so much for brightening my day! :)

I had never heard of MILF / GILF, and I'm sorry but I just had to look it up! You are soooo right - plenty of other 'more flattering' terms I'd prefer to be associated with ,I'm just saying! (LOL ;P )

My pet peeve is people who start off by saying:
"I don't mean to be rude/cheeky but..."
You just know you're in for the biggest insult EVER!!

Have a great weekend!

Cara and Jenn March 6, 2010 at 6:32 AM

Julie March 7, 2010 at 8:12 PM

I totally agree with how what we say can be seen as disrespectful to others. And I have to admit that I am totally guilty of using the "just sayin'" and "I know, right" ALL.THE.TIME. And after reading this, I will be more aware of how I'm using them.

Visiting from SITS.

I love your Blog!

The Wifey March 8, 2010 at 12:35 AM

My mother once scolded me because I start my "insults" with To Be Honest... Her saying was always something along the lines of how people shouldn't pass off cruelty for honesty and act like it's okay. I still say To Be Honest... and I now use "just sayin" as well.

But--- I like it. I pride myself on being a straightshooter. Got no problem or shame in the world for being 'rude' to someone, if being honest/blunt means being rude nowadays. I don't believe in gray areas either, where sometimes you should just be nice to spare someone's feelings. Wouldn't want someone to do that to me, just sayin. ;)

And maybe it's because I -am- young and you've even labeled this under 'youth' but I kinda like that I've popped out a baby and didn't go looking like hell like most of my other frumpy-mommy friends. MILF sounds atrocious but it depends on who's saying it. My hubby and his coworkers jest that he's lucky because he's got a MILF at home and that's fine with me. Now when my children's friends come up to me in about 15 years and say it, then I'll start flipping out. Haha.

Joy March 8, 2010 at 5:27 AM

Hi Michelle, I totally agree with you 100%. The MILF thing is really inappropriate. I notice that so much of what we deem inappropriate anymore is par for the course. :o(

Deanna March 8, 2010 at 6:04 AM

Following from SITS. Thanks for the laugh!

Lady Jane March 8, 2010 at 6:37 AM

Awesome post! I can't stand text speak and didn't know what MILF stood for unfortunately my hubby did and told me. Same with the other I was like shouldn't it be MILTF but then I think it's stupid all around. Just say what you mean.

Acting Balanced Mom March 8, 2010 at 8:33 AM

Stopping by from SITS - I think its one thing to use text speak while texting.. it does make some semblance of sense... however, I think it's important that we all remember to 'laugh out loud' without having to be all ROFL... all the time.

My husband teaches college and its so interesting to help grade papers where the kids were 'multitasking' and im'ing with friends because they accidently include snippets of IM conversation in their papers... OMG!

Thanks for a cute post!

Amy March 8, 2010 at 3:11 PM

Found you on SITS.

This problem is similar to the whole, "no offense, but..." Seriously? Just because you say "no offense," I'm not supposed to/allowed to take offense?

I don't think so.

I find that many people need to be sent to an etiquette class or two, kind of like how we send puppies to obedience school to teach them how to play nicely with others.

WhisperingWriter March 8, 2010 at 3:16 PM

I text but I don't get most of the text speak.

Stopping by from SITS.

Okay, this is just a great post.

A friend of mine had a new grandson. Her son came in to our place of work, and so, being the polite person I am, I told him his son was very adorable. His reply? "I know." He didn't even add the 'right'.
I kinda wanted to kick him in the nuts, to be honest, after that answer.

Post a Comment

Yay! You have something to say...let me have it. Thanks leaving me a bit of Joy

thank you for reading
